Layering for the ride A good riding jacket and pants should fit snugly enough that armor stays in place, with room underneath for a base layer in cold weather. Gloves and boots should be broken in before a long ride — stiff new gear in the wrong spot can be as distracting as no gear at all.
Don't skip the armor CE-rated armor in the shoulders, elbows, knees, and back adds real protection without adding much bulk. If a jacket or pants don't come with it standard, most of our gear has pockets for aftermarket armor inserts.
